Join Tanisha Mitchell—opera singer, librarian/archivist, and creator of "Opera Talks”— for this virtual program all about Marian Anderson.
Marian Anderson (1897-1993) is a cultural icon whose contralto voice broke through racial barriers in the operatic world and ultimately in American society. Her beautiful illustrious voice is most memorable through her controversial recital on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1939 and her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1955.
